Sustainable Agriculture and Its Implementation in Hong Kong

Countries around the globe are looking for long-term, sustainable solutions for increasing food production. Some have turned to sustainable agriculture in order to provide sufficient food sources without over-exploiting ecosystems. This e-case introduces the main goals and principles of sustainable agriculture. It features two cases in Hong Kong to demonstrate the sustainable agricultural practices as well as the management and policy initiatives taken by some local organizations as well as the public sector. Views of some key stakeholders involved will be presented to illustrate benefits and challenges of practising sustainable agriculture in Hong Kong. Learners can use the e-study to build up a basic understanding of sustainable agriculture and its implementation in Hong Kong, and then further explore how an individual member of a consumer society could play a part in sustainable agriculture.
